The Emerald Necklace is a group of 9 somewhat contiguous parks which include Boston Common.  They were designed more than a century ago by that renown designer of city parks, Frederick Law Olmsted, and include The Back Bay Fens, Olmsted Park, Jamaica Park, The Arnold Arboretum, and The Charles River Esplanade.   The park is centrally located to Boston's main attractions which include the Museum of Science, The Museum of Fine Arts, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Fenway Park of the Boston Red Sox, and the Hatch Shell - a outdoor music venue along the Esplanade.  The  Hatch Shell is famous for its televised Fourth of July celebrations.
