The New England Aquarium prides itself in showcasing the diversity, importance and beauty of aquatic life and habitats, while highlighting critical aquatic conservation issues.  

Several exhibits bear special consideration.  The Rivers of America exhibit features wildlife from the flooded forest of the Amazon River Basin to the still waters of a New England pond.  Over at the Edge of the Sea, visitors can touch some of New England's favorite tidepool dwellers such as sea stars, horseshoe crabs, sea urchins and periwinkles all set within a realistic rocky shore.  The Northern Waters of the World Gallery draws its exhibit themes from the Pacific and Atlantic coast.  You can stare into the den of a giant octopus that reaches lengths up to 30 feet long with tentacle arms extended.  And, at the 200,000 gallon Giant Ocean Tank, rising four stories from the Penguin Pool, you can view sea turtles, moray eels, and other tropical fishes. 

Also at the NEAq is a special Sea Lions presentation that you won't want to miss and is included in the admission price.  You'll also want to catch the frollicking Sea Otters who sometimes play with neighboring Harbor Seals behind the main Aquarium building.  NEAq also features several rotating exhibits.

The Lowell Lecture Series is free and open to the public.  Lectures are held Wednesdays at 5:30 in the Immersion Theater.
